Chambray Culottes

Friday, June 17, 2016

I have been seeing culottes all over magazines and blogs. I wasn't sure it was a trend that would work for me but decided to give it a try anyway. I headed to one of my favorite stores, Madewell {I'm sure you already knew that} and found the most perfect comfortable pair.

Before I post about a new piece I will usually wear it a couple times so I can really get a feel for how it looks best and my preference when it comes to styling an outfit. In this case, I love the easy comfortable look the soft chambray brings to the pant, but I think it looked best with a sharp crease I created while ironing it. The first time I wore them I steamed them and did not love the look of the flat fabric on me.

I styled this outfit with a bright Anthropologie top I have own for 9 years now! {I was shocked myself when I did the math}. I bring it out every Summer because I love the color and cut. The flow of the top it's perfect and because it's not too long, it prevents the outfit from looking too dumpy.

The necklace it's also an Anthropologie find from a few years ago, It's quite heavy but I love the detail. I also did nude heels {since the top part of my outfit was already too bright} and my trusted Tory Burch bag.

Popsicle Summer Dress

Monday, June 13, 2016

Today is the start of a very exciting week...my last days with my current company! I'll be starting a new job next week and I am beyond excited :) {hence my blog break the last two weeks of May, that interview/background check period was so intense}.

I'm kicking off the week of fun happy outfits with this amazing little cotton sundress from Anthropologie. How adorable is that Popsicle print?!

If you're thinking about buying this dress let me tell you that it runs super small. I'm usually a size 2 and when I got the dress it would not button up at my chest area {and I'm not big chested at all! 34B}. I then got a size bigger {which is the one I'm wearing} and it fits perfect except for a tiny little gap I sometimes get in the breast area between buttons. I did go into the store and tried the size 6 and while the chest was perfect, the waist was so big and looked awkward with that tie, too much extra fabric. The length on the size 6 was also  a bit too weird for me, past knee length but not quite midi. Such strange fit.

I loved the dress so much I decided to get the size 4 and live with that little gap. It's already become one of my summer favorites.

Because the print of the dress is already so busy I went with very simple accesories: my Chloe Marcie, gold studs and orange-red lipstick.

Happy Monday!

Striped Lace-Up Dress

Wednesday, June 8, 2016

Happy Hump Day! So excited for this week to be almost over, although we will most likely have a rainy weekend in Austin I am looking forward to a couple things we have planned for the weekend.

For this week I went for this little dress I got a few weeks ago, I have been loving the lace-up trend popping up everywhere and decided I wanted something with that sort of detail. After trying a few things on at Zara {too tight} and a few things at Forever 21 {too short} I went for this striped shift dress from Madewell.

It's very comfortable and easy. It does run a bit tight on the hip area so I got one size bigger than I usually get {I'm a size 2, XS at Madewell, but got S on this one}. It fits perfect.

It's been a sunny week in Austin {yay!} so I've been wearing my sunglasses every morning on my drive to work. I just love them so much!

As you can see, I keep my make up pretty simple for the office. I went for a pink lip and rosegold shadow for today and a bit of bronzer for some color. That Playa Del Carmen tan {ahem!...sunburn} did not last long.

While doing my hair this morning I was thinking about how much I love this half-bun trendy hairstyle....it cuts my getting-ready time in half! I can do my hair in less than 15 minutes and I love it.

Until next time!
