Overalls // Top // Sunglasses // Shoes

The overall trend made his awaited appearance last spring. I must admit  I was not a big fan from the very beginning, which confused me a bit considering how much I love jumpsuits in just about any fabric {except denim}. To me, there is something childish and playful about a pair of denim overalls that I did not understand. One afternoon while spending time on Pinterest I was inspired to give them a try and ordered a rather inexpensive pair from GAP. My goodness they are awesome! Is like wearing boyfriend jeans but in an instant-outfit, toss any top and you're done! I have been wearing them everywhere: with a white blouse to brunch, with a silk floral top to run errands and with the stripe tee above on a Sunday date night. I must want you, these are total men repellers...luckily I am one of those women who dresses for herself and not other people :) This pair in particular runs a bit on the bigger side {much like everything else at GAP} I am wearing an XS. This are a good starter pair if you are not sure if this trend is for you. Once you jump on the bandwagon you'll be wishing for these as much as I am.

Langford Wide Leg Crop- Pants for Fall

Last weekend I had the opportunity to work with Javier Gonzalez, an amazing Austin photographer with a great eye for unexpected locations and color. Born in Mexico and raised in Chicago, Javier developed a love for photography which lead him to receive a BFA from Texas State University. Javi and I met through Instagram {don't you just looooove IG?! I've meet so many cool people there!} after I commented on one of his amazing pictures, his imagery sure it's worthy of following, check it out here. Javi also founded Instagram Austin Texas, a creative community that highlights the beauty of our city. Be sure to check out his blog here to take a peek on what goes on behind such a creative mind. 

This was my first time collaborating with someone for my blog; I was a bit nervous as I am used to only posing for my husband {who takes all my pictures} but Javi and his friend/assistant/cocktail enthusiast made me feel at ease. 

I bought this wide leg pants from Madewell about three weeks ago and I can't stop wearing them, they are so comfortable! I swear I've been rocking them at least twice a week. The color is such a perfect neutral that goes with just about everything, and they look great with heels or flats, I'm obsessed!

Off The Shoulder Dress

This cute little dress has two things I love: classic stripes and that trendy off-the-shoulder neckline. I spotted it at Zara during my lunch break {I often go shopping during lunch, makes my day go faster!} and I knew it would be perfect for date night. Dinner, drinks and a movie here I come!

The simple easy color and shape of the dress inspired me to do a very clean look,  I paired it with minimal accessories, my pearl earrings and Forever 21 sunglasses {Karen Walker dupes!}.

More often than not I'll wear flats or sandals to date night since we usually do pretty casual stuff. If we are going somewhere fancier I'll do a heel or wedge, but for this day I wore my GAP flats in my absolute favorite color.

And my big Madewell bag because Austin weather is crazy and it can get cold in 15 minutes, so I always need to carry a cardigan with me. I know, I'm such an old lady.

Striped Black and White Dress

Dresses are a big part of my wardrobe, it's an all-in-one outfit! Who doesn't love that?  I'm constantly looking for pieces that are comfortable and that I can wear to work and on the weekends. When I saw this little number at Madewell I knew I had to have it.

 The first weekend I bought it I wore it to a trip to Monterrey, Mexico with suede booties, a green jacket and a leopard print bucket bag.

I paired it here with animal print heels and a leather clutch for dinner. I'll probably be wearing it again this week with black flats and a cardigan for the office. 

And of course, I added minimal yellow gold jewelry.

How To: Go To SXSW Without a Badge

This past weekend was my first interactive experience with SXSW and it was SO MUCH FUN! I've never been much of a festival girl {I hate crowds and public restrooms} so I didn't know what to expect. Luckily my experience was beyond amazing; I ended my weekend feeling very inspired and ready to move forward with my plans. As a bonus, I met many amazing women along the way!

Although I've been working on Nicole Sometimes for a few months, I officially launched my blog last Friday and was very excited to see so much traffic coming my way {thank you SO much!}. I've gotten a few messages from girls -newbie bloggers like myself and readers- asking how they can get involved and participate in SXSW events. I am no expert by any means but this is how it happened for me:

• Follow:  I follow my favorite brands on Instagram, in this case Laurel & Wolf and Create + Cultivate. I saw C+C did a post on having a pop-up conference during SXSW and immediately went to their website to find out more and RSVP. I also like to interact with the C+C girls on social media, they are very friendly and responsive. Not that this made a difference in getting into the conference, but it did make me feel like I knew them before I even walked into the boutique that hosted the event. 

• Interact: During the conference, Laurel & Wolf mentioned they had some events happening during the weekend, including a flower crown making workshop with Margo Blair Floral {who I also been following on IG for a while because she is AH-MAZE-ING}. They had me at fresh flowers so I asked about attending and the super friendly girls from L&W told me to just show up. So I did.

• RSVP: Keep in mind that a lot of events at SXSW are RSVP or invite only. But there are plenty of free gatherings for everyone! Do find out if your favorite brands/influencers will be in town during the festival and what you could do to participate and meet them. And get there early! Venues fill up quickly. 

• Network: Talk to everyone! Networking is HUGE if you are trying to start a business. In my case, the blogging world is very new to me so I want to learn and absorb as much as I  can from anyone who is willing to share their experience. I met so many amazing women but didn't get to talk to everyone, luckily I'm not the only one who feels that way so I had the lovely Erin Bradley from  Of The People Agency reach out to me to invite me to their party. I did my RSVP and showed up on Sunday with my husband and  a couple friends. We had the best time!

There are still so many places I wanted to stop by but  didn't have time. If only our SXSW days were twice as long!

• Wear: The first day at SXSW I wore heels since I knew I would be sitting down most of the day at the Create + Cultivate conference, but I did pack a pair of sandals in my bag to change into after happy hour. We ended up grabbing dinner at La Condesa {great Mexican food!} and then walking a couple miles to see a show. The second day I wore sandals and brought my big leather Madewell tote bag since I had my DSLR and other goodies. Plan your outfits accordingly, in my opinion, the right shoes can make or break your day.

Transition Into Spring - The LWD

Dress // Jacket // Necklace // Shoes // Bag 

Austin has been having the absolute best weather lately, since it feels like spring I decided to unpack some of my warm weather dresses and start transitioning my wardrobe. I can't quite put away my cashmere just yet, but I sure can start wearing my linen dresses with layers.

This little green jacket is a life saver, I wear it SO MUCH. I bought it about five years ago from Anthropologie and it quickly became my go-to when I need a light layer. Lately I've been crushing on this one from Madewell though, maybe I'll get it soon.

My favorite thing about the LWD (Little White Dress) is that you can accessorize it differently every time and create a dissimilar look. In this case, I wore this outfit to the office on a Friday. I kept it casual with my new flats from GAP and a nice necklace I took from my mom when I was in college and never gave back {hi mom! I love you! HA}. She got it somewhere in Mexico but I found similar option which I linked above.

A big bag is a must-have for me on the weekday. This one is from Anthropologie, I love the colorful details against the contrasting cream shimmery fabric.

This suede flats are incredibly comfortable. I need to go back and get another pair in a different color before they sell out, the price is so good! I really like how they look with the raw finish on the edge of my dress.

5 Amazing Bright Pink Lipsticks

Lipstick and lip gloss are my absolute favorite make up products. Most likely because I cannot, for the life of me, do eye shadows correctly. So I stick with a simple foundation, mascara and liner combo and have fun with my blush and lip colors.

I've always been into orangy-reds, but recently discovered a Clinique shade that I feel works well with my tone and hair color. My skin undertones are very pink so I always have to be careful, but this color is amazing for Spring. Check below for bright pink lipstick shades I'm loving this season including the one I'm wearing.

1. Clinique Long Last Matte in Magenta This is the one I'm wearing. Very soft and not dry at all.

2. Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter in Lollipop I must own at least 5 of these. I keep them everywhere! It's like chapstick but bit a little bit of color.

3. Nars Lipstick in Yu I own this lipstick in a different shade and I love how the pencil makes it so easy to apply and get it perfect every time.

4. Milani Color Statement Lipstick in 11 Fruit Punch Have you tried Milani lip colors? If not, you totally should. I purchased one at Target our of curiosity and turns out these lipsticks are so amazingly pigmented. The shades are also super pretty!

5. Bare Minerals Marvelous Moxie Lipstick in Never Say Never {phew! that was a long name!} I love Bare Minerals make up and this lipstick is wonderful, super moist and feels like you're not wearing anything at all.

I'm traveling this week to Monterrey, Mexico for my brother's masters graduation (I'm so proud!). So excited for a little getaway.
