5 Amazing Bright Pink Lipsticks

Friday, February 26, 2016

Lipstick and lip gloss are my absolute favorite make up products. Most likely because I cannot, for the life of me, do eye shadows correctly. So I stick with a simple foundation, mascara and liner combo and have fun with my blush and lip colors.

I've always been into orangy-reds, but recently discovered a Clinique shade that I feel works well with my tone and hair color. My skin undertones are very pink so I always have to be careful, but this color is amazing for Spring. Check below for bright pink lipstick shades I'm loving this season including the one I'm wearing.

1. Clinique Long Last Matte in Magenta This is the one I'm wearing. Very soft and not dry at all.

2. Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter in Lollipop I must own at least 5 of these. I keep them everywhere! It's like chapstick but bit a little bit of color.

3. Nars Lipstick in Yu I own this lipstick in a different shade and I love how the pencil makes it so easy to apply and get it perfect every time.

4. Milani Color Statement Lipstick in 11 Fruit Punch Have you tried Milani lip colors? If not, you totally should. I purchased one at Target our of curiosity and turns out these lipsticks are so amazingly pigmented. The shades are also super pretty!

5. Bare Minerals Marvelous Moxie Lipstick in Never Say Never {phew! that was a long name!} I love Bare Minerals make up and this lipstick is wonderful, super moist and feels like you're not wearing anything at all.

Top is from the new Spring Gap collection and you can get it here. Made out of Tencel Chambray material,  it is so incredibly soft. Sunglasses are from Nordstrom.

I'm traveling this week to Monterrey, Mexico for my brother's masters graduation (I'm so proud!). So excited for a little getaway.

Happy Friday!

A Touch of Neon

Wednesday, February 24, 2016

Accessories are the way to go when you want to add a pop of color to your outfit, I especially love neon ones.

This Kate Spade Scout Bag often makes an appearance whenever I want my look to be more fun. Cambridge Satchel Co.  has very similar ones in so many colors.

Top // Jeans // Belt // Heels // Bag
I love this silk J Crew top, it goes with everything, I've even worn it as a swimsuit cover up! The earrings are from Forever 21 from a million years ago, I love how bright yet understated they are.

Bright belts are another god option for giving your outfit more personality, this yellow one from Anthropologie looks great on white dresses or chambray skirts.

Hope you have a great Wednesday! We've made it to the middle of the week :)

Silk Red Dress

Monday, February 22, 2016

Another bright dress to kick stat my week. I've owned this dress for a couple years now and it is always in heavy rotation during warm days. I love how light and easy it is, and the length is perfect for the office.

I've worn this before to date night with brown leather booties and a denim jacket. So versatile!

Red Dress // Leather Clutch
This time I pared it with my JCrew Collection Lanie heels and a GAP leather clutch. Similar items linked above.

And of course a red lip to match the dress. Hope you have a wonderful week!

Almost-Spring Wishlist

Friday, February 19, 2016

I'm going crazy over here with all the adorable Spring collections dropped by some of my favorite stores. It's so hard to prioritize on what to get first. I own a super cute chambray dress from Gap that I wear over and over, so right bow I'm looking for a more work-appropriate one. This one from Nordstrom looks so comfortable but maybe it's too short; so this one from JCrew might be the answer.

I don't need another leopard print bag but this one it's so perfect. Then of course I would need cute earrings and bright lipstick to accessorize my dress. I plan on getting these Madewell sandals yet again since I always wear them to death. And this cute little wallet would be perfect for all my small bags. And let's not forget! The next sunglasses on my list.

Happy Friday!

Cobalt Blue Dress

Thursday, February 18, 2016

I am definitely one of those people who strongly believes the outfit sets the tone for the day, so for the first day of the work week I always try to wear something happy and bright.

This cobalt blue dress is one of my favorite pieces in my closet. I'm a sucker for loose silky pieces and this meets all of my Spring dress dreams: comfy, versatile and bright.

Loose Dress // Open-Toe Booties // Bag // Sunglasses
Open-toe booties are a must have for this season. These BCBG ones are super comfortable. I wear them often during warm seasons with just about anything.

Similar items linked above.

Since I cut my hair short {which I greatly regret} I rarely put it up. But this dress is a bit fun for the office so I decided to do a high pony. Really enjoyed having my hair our of my face for the day.

My only concern with light fabrics is that they wrinkle very easily; but I guess is the price to pay for wearing breezy clothing. Bag is a favorite from Madewell, also seen here. Sunglasses are from Free People.

Have a great almost-Friday!

Valentine's Plaid

Tuesday, February 16, 2016

Carlos and I decided to to a little weekend getaway for our Valentine's Day, we headed to Fredericksburg which has the most amazing wine trail. Had the best time!

Valentine's was a bit cool this year. Since the day before was so warm I was a bit worried my flannel dress would be too hot, but it ended up being perfect since the day was overcast and windy.

Plaid Dress // Bag // Booties
I got this dress at Madewell {on sale!} recently and I figured the red color was perfect for the occasion. Similar items linked above.

I paired them with my favorite black leather booties which I wear all the time during the cold months. They are the most comfortable shoes!

And since I love love love print mixing {you will notice that as I post more} I took my Loeffler Randall Industry Bucket Bag with me. It fits so much.

Apologies for the pasty white legs. I kind of gave up my dreams of being a bronzed goddess a few years ago and have not looked back HA!

Dream Kitchen

Carlos and I have started looking at houses in Austin, we are hoping we can come to an agreement soon enough so we can purchase this summer -he wants brand new and ready to move in, I prefer an old home we can remodel to out liking-.

One thing we are on the same page about is having lots of natural light and a white kitchen. I have been on Pinterest every night gathering ideas to decorate.

Here are some of my absolute favorites:

And extra credit if I get an adorable little breakfast nook and can decorate with colorful accents:

I'll keep daydreaming here, until later.

Cozy Gray Sweater

Monday, February 8, 2016

Sweater // Jeans // Boots // Bag

I can never pass up on a good gray sweater; there's about seven of them I keep on my daily rotation. Sometimes I worry that I look the same everyday because of my constant reach for gray. But isn't that the purpose of a neutral tone?

This chunky one is from J Crew and I purchased it during the after-Christmas sale. It is so comfortable and warm! I paired it with my favorite leopard print calf-hair booties (also from J Crew) for a casual look. Similar items linked above.

I love my Mini Transport Crossbody from Madewell. It is the perfect casual little bag with enough space for all my daily essentials. I find myself reaching for it over and over again.

Have a great start to you week!

Skinny Cargos

Friday, February 5, 2016

Cargo Pants // Top // Tote
Skinny cargo pants have been on my shopping wish list for about a month, I have been scouting my favorite shops for the perfect army green pair; I have yet to find them but I did come across these amazing Madewell ones, and since they were on sale it was a no brainier!. I received them last night and immediately thought of this sheer Lord & Taylor top I bought a couple years ago (and wear over and over) and my animal print heels. Perfect Friday outfit!

My husband bought me the Madewell Transport Tote as a Valentine's Day gift about 3 years ago and I reach for this tote almost every day. You can see it's started to wear a little on the corners but the leather has aged so beautifully. I had it monogrammed with my -maiden- name initials so there is something so nostalgic to me about this bag. I adore it because it came from him and because it fits EVERYTHING. Camera, iPad, water bottle, planner, make up bag...it's all in there!

And because it is Friday, I had to have a triple latte to kick start my day.

So excited for Super Bowl Weekend! I don't actually understand football all that well, but I love the food and beer :)

Happy Weekend!

N + C Wedding: Dress Shopping Tips

Thursday, February 4, 2016

Wedding dress shopping is probably one of the most exciting moments of the planning process, it was certainly my absolute favorite part! I must admit I tried over 100 dresses before I decided on my Vera Wang. I visited stores in L.A. Scottsdale, Austin and Monterrey, Mexico and tried on EVERYTHING that caught my eye. From the lower-end David's Bridal to an absolutely dreamy completely-out-of-my-budget Monique Lhuillier Platinum.

Needless to say, I learned a few things along the way, so here are a few tips to help you with this fun task:

1. Give Everything A Chance
In my head, my dream dress involved a lot of lace, a dramatic train  and long sleeves. As you can see by my final pick, it is nothing like what I had in mind but I loved it so so much. I picked this dress just for fun and ended up falling in love with it. My message here is to give everything a fair chance, you might be set on a mermaid gown and then fall in love with the ballgown. Or like me, want something more intricate and end up with a simpler dress. Don't shut down a dress because of how it looks on the hanger, always give it a try.

2. Shop Alone
Of course you'll want to bring your mom and sisters or friends to the first shopping trip, it is such a special moment! But if you have the time and logistics permit it, go and shop alone one afternoon. This will give you a better point of view on what YOU like and don't like. It's very easy to get lost in the excitement of the moment when everyone is crying because the dress it's so beautiful but you're just not into it. Take your time, you only get to wear a wedding dress once!

3.Bring Your Essentials
Bring your strapless bra, heels or anything else you know you'll be wearing for sure. I knew I wanted to wear flats on my wedding day so I always wore flats when I went shopping. Long earrings were also a must have for me so I had a little pair I brought with me to every appointment. It helped me visualize the entire look when I was trying everything on.

4. Don't Be Pressured
Don't let sales girls pressure you into making a decision. I had one particular bad experience where the woman was pressuring me so much to put a payment on a dress she made the entire appointment uncomfortable. The store had this weird tactic of sending everyone out to you to complement you on the dress. There was nothing genuine about it, they almost seemed rehearsed. I walked out of there without making a purchase and on my way out I saw them to the exact same thing to another bride; I knew then the uneasy feeling wasn't just my imagination. Decide and buy when YOU are ready. If you are not felling 100% confident; it's probably not the one (this applies to the groom as well haha).

5. Know Your Dress
My dress arrived to Austin in a big box (almost my size!) and I waited until a couple weeks before the wedding to have it prepared. Vera Wang recommended I take it to a shop in Houston to get it fluffed but I was much to lazy to drive 3 hours, so I found the best dry cleaner in Austin and paid $200 to have it steamed. Big Mistake. The dress did not look like it was supposed to so I went to Target, bought a gigantic steamer myself and steamed the whole thing again at home. Then I flew with the dress to Mexico and steamed it once again the morning of the wedding. It wasn't until I got back from my honeymoon that I actually read the tag on the dress where it clearly states DO NOT STEAM (ugh!). No wonder my petals did not look as fluffy! I still loved it and felt very pretty in it. I just wished I would have read the tag before or listened to the girls at Vera Wang. Learn from me and don't put steam where you are not supposed to.

Best of luck on this fun experience!

The Weekend Uniform

Monday, February 1, 2016

How is it Monday already?! My goodness time flies when you're having fun. This past Saturday I had a morning filled with running errands all over town. I threw own my trusted weekend outfit combo: boyfriend jeans, an over sized striped top and converse.

Austin was so warm and sunny this past weekend so wearing bright neon colors was my way to celebrate the much needed warmth. This neon orange Kate Spade scout bag is one of my favorites, it fits so much but it's structured so well it never looks like it's out of proportion.

J Crew Striped Top // Boyfriend Jeans // Kate Spade Bag // Converse

I am obsessed with these boyfriend jeans I got at Nordstrom last summer. I linked similar items for everything I'm wearing that is no longer available.

Hope you had a great weekend too!
